my blog looks like ass

I am using one of the wordpress “sandbox” themes because I want as little interference as possible from existing CSS. I’ve purchased the CSS upgrade, so I wanted to find something that represents a fairly blank canvas on which to layer my own stylings. Complete creative control over the look will be nice, but in the meantime my blog looks like ass. Not sure when I’m going to have time to design a look and feel, so it may be like this for a while… sigh…

still looks like ass, but not like a really ugly ass. worked on the typography and overall structure of the page a little. next will be colors and such….

also…. looks like wordpress is stripping out all of my { zoom: 1 } rules. that sucks. need to find another way to trigger IE’s infamous hasLayout (primarily for clearing floats)… dammit jim!

ok, took a step backward. looks like ugly ass again, because I got tired of fighting browsers differences, and am now using YUI reset+fonts. I’ll need to redo all of my font-sizing, line-heights, etc until I’m happy with the typography again….

made some progress on styling the comments and the “logged in” comment section. just a little more work and I’ll be done with the typography and move onto some sort of a theme wrt colors icons and such. vertical rhythm makes this stuff look super clean. i’m pretty happy with it. even though it’s really simplistic, i don’t think it looks like ass anymore 🙂

of course there are some quirks in IE due to it not supporting some of the CSS I’m using (notably min-[height|width], max-[height|width])
